{"id":636519,"date":"2026-05-11T12:08:14","date_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:08:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/636519\/"},"modified":"2026-05-11T12:08:14","modified_gmt":"2026-05-11T12:08:14","slug":"nico-collins-i-started-my-career-in-houston-want-to-end-it-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/636519\/","title":{"rendered":"Nico Collins: I started my career in Houston, want to end it there"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When trade rumors swirled about Texans wide receiver Nico Collins ahead of the draft, General Manager Nick Caserio didn\u2019t hesitate to make it clear that the team has no interest in parting ways with the wideout. <\/p>\n<p>Caserio said anyone thinking that a trade could happen \u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/texans-gm-nick-caserio-were-not-trading-nico-collins\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">can shove it<\/a>\u201d because the Texans won\u2019t be making a deal. That sounds like it was music to Collins\u2019s ears because he said this weekend that he does not have any interest in wearing a different uniform. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love the Texans,\u201d Collins said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC. \u201cI <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/sports\/2026\/05\/10\/why-texans-nico-collins-wants-to-play-entire-career-in-houston-sees-cj-stroud-as-a-man-on-a-mission-ready-to-hunt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">got drafted here<\/a>. It\u2019s somewhere I want to end. I love the city, the people, the community. There\u2019s a lot of great positive vibes coming out of the city of Houston. So, it\u2019s definitely a place I would like to retire.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While Collins wants to stick around the Texans, the business side of things will always play a role in how a career plays out and Collins has slipped down the list of best-paid wideouts since signing an extension in 2024.
