{"id":639446,"date":"2026-05-12T23:11:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-12T23:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/639446\/"},"modified":"2026-05-12T23:11:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T23:11:12","slug":"nevada-retirement-program-reaches-20000-active-savers-12-5-million-in-contributions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/639446\/","title":{"rendered":"Nevada retirement program reaches 20,000 active savers, $12.5 million in contributions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LAS VEGAS (<a href=\"http:\/\/fox5vegas.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"http:\/\/fox5vegas.com\/\">FOX5<\/a>) \u2014 More than 20,775 Nevadans are now actively contributing to NEST accounts, with total savings topping $12.56 million as of the end of April, according to the Treasurer\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">NEST \u2014 short for Nevada Employee Savings Trust \u2014 launched in the summer of 2025 to give private-sector workers a way to save for retirement, even if their job doesn\u2019t offer a 401(k). The accounts stay with workers even if they change jobs or careers.<\/p>\n<p>Younger workers drive growth<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">People ages 18 to 35 make up about half of all funded accounts. More than 6,800 savers under 30 now account for about 32 percent of all participants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Treasurer Zach Conine said the program is helping Nevadans \u201ctake a commanding role in their financial future\u201d by removing barriers to saving.<\/p>\n<p>Program addresses retirement access gap<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">NEST was created by lawmakers in 2023 to address gaps in access to retirement plans. AARP estimates about 593,000 Nevada workers still lack an employer-sponsored plan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Around 90,000 people are now registered for NEST, with more than 20,000 actively contributing.
