(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/\">WWSB<\/a>) &#8211; Manatee County residents are experiencing decreased water pressure as the ongoing drought strains utility systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Christian Collins, deputy director of Manatee County Utilities, said the issue affects residents in specific areas served by the reclaimed water system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s essentially a supply and demand issue,\u201d Collins said. \u201cOur reclaimed system doesn\u2019t have the same quantity of water that our potable water system does.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/05\/08\/watering-your-lawn-wrong-day-could-cost-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.mysuncoast.com\/2026\/05\/08\/watering-your-lawn-wrong-day-could-cost-you\/\">Watering your lawn on the wrong day could cost you<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Collins said residents may notice significant changes in their irrigation systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cPeople are used to seeing their sprinkler heads shoot well across the yard,\u201d Collins said. \u201cYou may come out there one morning and it\u2019s a dribble coming out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Not all Manatee County residents are affected by the pressure decrease. The county\u2019s main transmission line serves specific use areas for reclaimed water.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Collins said residents will continue to see the strain until rainfall returns to the area.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WWSB.
