IT FOLLOWS THE NEWS THE FBI IS INVESTIGATING THE RESULTS OF THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION HERE IN WISCONSIN. MILWAUKEE COUNTY CLERK GEORGE CHRISTENSEN CONFIRMED THE FBI VISIT IN AN EMAIL, SAYING THE AGENT DID NOT SPEAK TO HAWLEY DIRECTLY, BUT LEFT A BUSINESS CARD. IN THE EMAIL, CHRISTIANSEN SAID IT IS UNFORTUNATE THE FBI CHOSE TO VISIT HAWLEY’S PRIVATE RESIDENCE RATHER THAN CONTACT THE ELECTION COMMISSION’S OFFICE DIRECTLY. NO DEDICATED PUBLIC SERVANT SHOULD BE SUBJECTED TO THAT TYPE OF INTRUSION SIMPLY FOR CARRYING OUT HER RESPONSIBILITIES AND WITH INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM. THIS WEEK, THE MILWAUKEE JOURNAL SENTINEL REPORTED THE FBI INVESTIGATION INTO THE 2020 ELECTION IS IN ITS PRELIMINARY PHASE AND FOCUSED ON VETTING PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS. PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP HAS FALSELY REPEATEDLY CLAIMED HE WON THE 2020 ELECTION IN HIS OWN STATEMENT. MILWAUKEE COUNTY EXECUTIVE DAVID CROWLEY SAID PRESIDENT TRUMP’S ONGOING ATTEMPTS TO RELITIGATE THE 2020 ELECTION, WHICH HE LOST, HAVE CROSSED A LINE IF HE’S SENDING FBI AGENTS TO THE PRIVATE RESIDENCE OF MILWAUKEE COUNTY ELECTIONS DIRECTOR. A Federal investigator visited the home of the county’s elections director, Michelle Hawley, the county confirmed, and said they left their business card. The developments come after the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first reported agents recently interviewed Wisconsin Elections Commission deputy administrator Robert Kehoe. The county said it will be following up as to the nature of the visit. Another source said the FBI is interested in asking about Milwaukee’s nearly 180,000 absentee ballots from the 2020 presidential election, which have not yet been destroyed, including their location. Milwaukee County Clerk George Christenson issued a statement Wednesday that said in part, “The 2020 Presidential Election was fair and transparent, and its results are accurate. This has been proven repeatedly over the last six years by the post-election canvass, the Presidential Election Recount, State court-based challenge, Federal court-based challenge, the forensic audit by the Wisconsin’s Legislative Audit Bureau, and two additional independent audits. Continuing to relitigate settled questions does not strengthen public confidence in elections but it undermines it.”Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley also reacted Wednesday. “President Trump’s ongoing attempts to relitigate the 2020 election, which he lost, have crossed a line if he is sending FBI agents to the private residence of Milwaukee County’s elections director,” Crowley said in a statement. “Milwaukee County officials will always cooperate with law enforcement officers and the investigations they are pursuing, but this action raises serious concerns of intimidation. Regardless of how this situation evolves, the facts are clear: In 2020, election clerks did their jobs. The election was safe and secure. Donald Trump lost the popular vote in Wisconsin. No amount of fear and intimidation from the Trump administration will change that truth.” Top HeadlinesJudge sentences wrong-way driver to 30 years for deadly crashIllinois investigates potential hantavirus case near Wisconsin borderCharges filed in shooting death of Milwaukee County Courthouse security guardWATCH Body recovered from Milwaukee River

      MILWAUKEE —

The FBI attempted to interview a top Milwaukee County election official this week, sources confirm to WISN 12 News.

A Federal investigator visited the home of the county’s elections director, Michelle Hawley, the county confirmed, and said they left their business card.
