Clemson University has introduced a new IT governance policy<\/a> and process<\/a> for evaluating and approving technology solutions to further strengthen institutional alignment and safeguard the responsible use of University resources.\u00a0<\/p>\n The University policy, which takes effect immediately, applies to all new and renewal purchases of software, cloud platforms, certain hardware, and digital tools. It ensures that every technology solution adopted by the University aligns with Clemson\u2019s security standards, accessibility practices, budgetary stewardship and strategic mission.<\/p>\n Under the new process, departments and individuals seeking to purchase or renew a digital solution must submit a request form through a new process called CheckIT. This streamlined form will ask a series of questions that address security, compliance, integration, licensing, accessibility and alignment with Clemson\u2019s technology roadmap.\u00a0<\/p>\n This form and process builds upon and replaces the current IT Vendor Management Program (ITVMP) assessment and streamlines both vendor management and IT governance into one single, easy-to-navigate program. This new process is also staffed with a team to support University stakeholders each step of the way, ensuring technology solutions are reviewed at the appropriate level and requests are processed in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n Clemson Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) and the Office of Procurement and Business Services developed the policy in collaboration with stakeholders across campus, including research, academics, finance and student services.
