{"id":643640,"date":"2026-05-15T00:14:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-15T00:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/643640\/"},"modified":"2026-05-15T00:14:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T00:14:07","slug":"jamie-langenbrunner-leaving-bruins-organization-pro-hockey-rumors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/643640\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamie Langenbrunner Leaving Bruins Organization \u2013 Pro Hockey Rumors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although the Boston Bruins did not lose Assistant General Manager <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/staff\/29829\/evan-gold\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Evan Gold<\/a> to the Vancouver Canucks, they\u2019re still losing their other Assistant General Manager heading into the offseason. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/_TyAnderson\/status\/2055010394511413503?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">According to Ty Anderson of 98.5 The Sports Hub<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/l\/langeja01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-14_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jamie Langenbrunner<\/a> is leaving the Bruins organization to pursue other opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>Langenbrunner, 50, has been with Boston for the last 11 years. After retiring in January of 2014, Langenbrunner joined the Bruins as a development coach ahead of the 2015-16 season. He spent several years in that role before becoming the team\u2019s Director of Player Development in 2019-20, a position now held by former defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcquaad01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.prohockeyrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-05-14_hr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Adam McQuaid<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Since the 2022-23 season, Langenbrunner has been Boston\u2019s Assistant General Manager alongside Gold. Langenbrunner has managed the player personnel responsibilities, while Gold has managed the day-to-day operations. If the Canucks had hired Gold as their next General Manager, the expectation was that Langenbrunner would have been brought to Vancouver with him. Additionally, Langenbrunner was loosely linked to the Toronto Maple Leafs\u2019 General Manager vacancy before the team ultimately landed on <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/staff\/20523\/john-chayka\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">John Chayka<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, the New Jersey Devils felt like a logical fit for Langenbrunner. The native of Cloquet, MN, played nearly a decade with the Devils and served as captain of the team for four years. New Jersey had an opening for an Assistant General Manager after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/staff\/38773\/sunny-mehta\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Sunny Mehta<\/a> took the reins. This position was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2026\/05\/devils-hire-braden-birch-as-assistant-general-manager.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">filled<\/a> by <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eliteprospects.com\/staff\/29939\/braden-birch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Braden Birch<\/a>, who had worked closely with Mehta in the Florida Panthers organization.<\/p>\n<p>Given that <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hockey-reference.com\/players\/j\/johnsry01.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ryan Johnson<\/a> has been <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.prohockeyrumors.com\/2026\/05\/canucks-to-promote-ryan-johnson.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">promoted<\/a> as the Canucks next General Manager, the team technically has an opening at the AGM position, which could entice Langenbrunner if it comes with more responsibility.
