The tournament is scheduled from Aug. 7 to Aug. 18, 2025, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Gauff’s best result at this WTA 1000 tournament came in 2023 when she claimed the title. En route to the final, she defeated players such as Mayar Sherif, Linda Nosková, Jasmine Paolini, and Iga Świątek. In the championship match, the World No. 2 secured her first WTA 1000 title by triumphing over Karolína Muchová 6-3, 6-4.

This year, Gauff is seeded second at the Cincinnati Open and will commence her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She is set to face the winner of the first-round match between Wang Xinyu and Emiliana Arango.

Gauff and Wang have met twice on the WTA Tour, with each player having secured one victory. Their most recent encounter was in the second round of the 2025 Berlin Tennis Open, where the Chinese emerged victorious with a scoreline of 6-3, 6-3. Wang subsequently finished as the runner-up after losing to Markéta Vondroušová in the final.

On the other hand, Gauff has never faced Arango on the WTA Tour, and their potential second-round match in Cincinnati will mark the first time these two players will go up against one another.

The winner of the second-round match between Gauff and either Wang or Arango at the 2025 Cincinnati Open will advance to face either 32nd seed Dayana Yastremska, Ann Li, or qualifier Viktoriya Tomova in the third round.

Coco Gauff recently celebrated after winning her second doubles title at the 2025 Canadian Open.
