BENNINGTON, Neb. (WOWT) – Bennington Police have a tip for drivers after a string of car break-ins and thefts overnight Tuesday. The thefts and break-ins were caught on video through various Ring doorbell cameras.<\/p>\n
The footage captured by police shows a group of four people driving in the neighborhood in one alleged stolen vehicle before abandoning it, breaking in another, and finally stealing a third in a driveway.<\/p>\n
Police Chief Andrew Hilscher told First Alert 6 a total of three vehicles were stolen across town. In addition to the theft, another dozen cars were broken into.<\/p>\n
As of Wednesday evening, two of the three cars were recovered.<\/p>\n
Hilscher said this kind of thing doesn\u2019t happen often here, <\/p>\n
\u201cA lot of times it\u2019s someone the owner knows,\u201d He said. \u201cHowever, this incident\u2026they don\u2019t know the victims\u201d.<\/p>\n
Hilscher stressed the importance of remembering to remove car keys and other valuable items from cars left outside overnight.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost of the vehicles that were stolen, unfortunately, it appears that the keys were left inside the vehicle along with their purses, wallets, stuff like that,\u201d Hilscher said. <\/p>\n
The stolen vehicle yet to be found, has been identified as a 2020 Chevrolet Trax.<\/p>\n
