Adam Driver has broken his silence on the claims Lena Dunham made about his on-set behavior<\/a> in her newest memoir Famesick.<\/p>\n

Dunham, 40, alleged in her book<\/a> that Driver, 42, was \u201cverbally aggressive\u201d and once threw a chair while filming her HBO series Girls, in which the Star Wars actor played her on-and-off love interest<\/a> during all six seasons from 2012 to 2017.<\/p>\n

When asked about the claims Sunday at the Cannes press conference for his new film Paper Tiger, Driver kept his response brief.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no comment on any of that. I\u2019m saving it all for my book,\u201d Driver said in a video shared by Deadline, sparking laughter from the audience.<\/p>\n

Neither Driver nor Dunham returned The Independent\u2019s request for comment on his statement.<\/p>\n

Dunham wrote in Famesick,<\/a> which came out last month, that Driver threw a chair at the wall next to her when she disassociated once while running lines with him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence,\u201d she wrote. \u201cLate one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I\u2019d written them. I\u2019d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer \u2014 until finally, Adam screamed, \u2018F***ING SAY SOMETHING\u2019 and hurled a chair at the wall next to me. \u2018WAKE THE F*** UP,\u2019 he told me. \u2018I\u2019M SICK OF WATCHING YOU JUST STARE.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

She said that she \u201cdidn\u2019t tell anyone\u201d about the incident at the time because a previous romantic relationship had left her accustomed to violence.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the tell-all book,<\/a> Dunham described Driver as \u201csomething feral,\u201d calling him \u201chalf-man, half-beast.\u201d She claimed that he punched a hole in his trailer wall once because he hated his haircut, and screamed in her face on another occasion.<\/p>\n

Dunham said that despite his volatile behavior, she still felt a partnership with Driver as they worked together on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI reasoned that the intensity of his anger at me, anger that could make him spit and throw things, was proportionate to the intensity of our creative connection,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

She also implied that she and Driver came close to sleeping together one weekend while his girlfriend \u2014 who is now his wife, Joanne Tucker \u2014 was out of town. However, Dunham said she decided against it because she did not want to make their working relationship more complicated.<\/p>\n
