\n\tA24<\/a> is officially taking \u201cClub Kid<\/a>\u201d home from the afters.<\/p>\n

\n\tJordan Firstman<\/a>\u2018s dramedy, an official selection of this year\u2019s Cannes Film Festival<\/a>, has notched a major sale \u2014 $17 million, per three sources \u2014 after a weekend of heated bidding in the South of France. Topic Studios financed and produced the project, and A24 has taken worldwide rights to the film. <\/p>\n

\n\tVariety was first to report<\/a> that Firstman\u2019s directorial debut was a hot ticket item following its Friday premiere. Mubi, Focus Features, Searchlight, A24 and Netflix were all in the race for \u201cClub Kid,\u201d throwing down offers in the seven-figure range at first. The price tag quickly escalated and landed at $17 million. The film also drew interest from Warner Bros.\u2019 new indie label Clockwork, though they bowed out early. Neon was a potential suitor, per a source, but the Cannes-dominating studio already has a jam packed slate for 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tFirstman serves as the star as well as the director of \u201cClub Kid,\u201d which follows a party promoter who has long outgrown his time on the scene. When the 10-year-old son he never knew he had shows up at his door, he must choose to finally enter the adult world as a father or keep dancing the years away.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film is produced by Academy Award-winner Alex Coco (\u201cAnora\u201d) and Galen Core (\u201cLurker\u201d), alongside Topic\u2019s Ryan Heller (\u201cA Real Pain,\u201d \u201cSplitsville\u201d) and Michael Bloom. Stay Gold co-financed. Firstman also serves as an executive producer alongside Ian Stratford, Charles Croft and Jasmine Daghighian for Topic, Olmo Schnabel and Topic\u2019s Daniela Taplin.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cClub Kid\u201d marks the first major sale at this year\u2019s Cannes, one that\u2019s notably void of Hollywood starpower or blockbuster muscle. The market has been further dampened by the fact that a significant number of titles arrived at the festival already with distribution. <\/p>\n
