Caitlin Clark<\/a>\u00a0is stuffing the stat sheet so massively for the Indiana Fever<\/a> that WNBA<\/a>\u00a0scorekeepers are having trouble keeping up.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The star\u00a0guard had 21 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds in 24 minutes to lead the Fever (2-2) to an\u00a089-78 win<\/a> over the Seattle Storm<\/a> (1-3) Sunday, May 17 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the team\u2019s\u00a0first home win of\u00a0the season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The game was Clark\u2019s\u00a012th game with\u00a0at least 20 points and 10 assists,\u00a0extending her record for most in WNBA history. Veteran guard\u00a0Courtney Vandersloot<\/a> is in second place with 10 such games in 15 years of experience.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Clark technically set that record before Sunday\u2019s game started. She had 32 points and 10 assists in overtime loss to the Washington Mystics<\/a> on Friday, May 15, but two of those assists\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0reflected in the final box score. That was until the league updated her final stat line a few hours before Sunday\u2019s game tipped off.<\/p>\n

With that update, Clark became the first player in WNBA history to notch multiple games with at least 30 points and 10 assists.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In her postgame press conference, Clark laughed as she admitted that setting a record and then extending it two days later \u201chad to be a first\u201d\u00a0for her.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Sunday,\u00a0Clark\u00a0became\u00a0the first player in WNBA history with at least 20 points and 10 assists in fewer than 25 minutes played.\u00a0It\u00a0was also her fourth consecutive game with\u00a0at least 20 points and five assists, which\u00a0tied for the longest streak to start a season in WNBA history.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I always take pride in being able to set my teammates up for success,” Clark\u00a0told reporters. “That allows our team to really get flowing, and I can do a really good job of that.\u00a0I only played 23 minutes tonight, and I had 10 assists, so\u00a0I think it\u00a0shows the potential of what this team can do offensively.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clark was also efficient in scoring herself, collecting her 21 points on just 10 shots. She was 2-of-4 from the 3-point line\u00a0after going 3-for-16 from beyond the arc over the first two games of the season.\u00a0She had early momentum, scoring 17 points in the first half.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Sometimes as a shooter, you can overthink when things aren’t going your way,\u201d Clark said of her early shooting struggles. \u201cI knew I was going to break through at some point, and it was good to see them go in. But in my head, just telling myself to let it fly. Don’t hold onto it, don’t\u00a0aim\u00a0it, just shoot it.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Kelsey Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham added 17 points\u00a0each on Sunday to help Indiana rebound from its two\u00a0previous\u00a0losses.<\/p>\n

The Fever played without center\u00a0Aliyah Boston<\/a>, who watched from sidelines for the first time in her four-year WNBA career.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next, the Fever will face\u00a0the\u00a0Portland\u00a0Fire<\/a>\u00a0on Wednesday, May 20 in the third game of a four-game homestand.\u00a0<\/p>\n
