Another rookie player with Utah ties is getting an NFL opportunity.<\/p>\n

This time, it\u2019s former BYU and Utah State running back Miles Davis, who signed with the Carolina Panthers<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Davis had a workout with the team prior to the signing, according to KPRC 2\u2019s Aaron Wilson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 5-foot-11, 215-pound Las Vegas native spent five years at BYU before transferring to Utah State for his final season in 2025.<\/p>\n

He went undrafted in last month\u2019s NFL draft, then had a rookie mini-camp tryout<\/a> with the Seattle Seahawks but did not sign with the defending Super Bowl champions after that audition.<\/p>\n

From 2020-24, Davis ran for 468 yards and two touchdowns as a reserve back for the Cougars, while adding 16 receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

He flourished in a starring role for Utah State last season, running for a career-high 731 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 5.6 yards per carry.<\/p>\n

Davis also had 28 receptions for 201 yards and three touchdowns for the Aggies during his lone season in Logan.<\/p>\n

He joins a crowded Panthers running back room that includes Chuba Hubbard, Jonathon Brooks, Trevor Etienne, AJ Dillon and Anthony Tyus III.<\/p>\n

To make room for Davis on the roster, Carolina released fellow running back Montrell Johnson Jr.<\/p>\n
