SIENNA, Texas (KTRK) — ABC13 viewers captured an alligator on video on Friday, crossing the intersection at Sienna Parkway and the Fort Bend County Toll Road.<\/p>\n
Another video shows an alligator on the streets in Sienna walking on the sidewalk and then lying down on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
“Seeing them in the water, not a surprise at all, there’s playgrounds, basketball courts, and things, so we see them over there a lot, but seeing them on the sidewalk, not normal, even by Sienna standards,” Sienna resident Lauren Moyer said.<\/p>\n
Moyer said she’s lived in the neighborhood for 5 years with her daughter and is used to the critter community, but not gators galore.<\/p>\n
“It’s a concern, we’re seeing possums, or snakes, other things I don’t want her to come in contact with, but no, an alligator is very scary,” Moyer said.<\/p>\n
Experts said the reason you may see alligators roaming the streets right now, and not just in a body of water, is because it’s mating season.<\/p>\n
“They’re very territorial this time of year so you’ll have the larger male alligator with a well-established territory and the rest of the year he may not care too much about another male being there, during mating season he’ll fight them – he’ll chase them off, he doesn’t want them anywhere near his mates,” Urban Jungle Wildlife Removal<\/a> wildlife biologist Stefan Kuhlman said.<\/p>\n Kuhlman said if you do encounter an alligator, leave it be.<\/p>\n “They’re everywhere, and they really don’t want to mess with us; they just want to be left alone, but when you see them crossing the road, it kind of gets your attention,” said Kuhlman.<\/p>\n Moyer said now that she’s starting to see the roaming reptiles, she believes learning more is key.<\/p>\n “Just educate ourselves on alligator mating season, and even if weather changes their habits, if we just know they’re out here doing their thing, we can do our thing and stay out of their way, and as drivers that we’re aware,” Moyer said.<\/p>\n Copyright \u00a9 2026 KTRK-TV.
