LIMA, Ohio (WLIO) \u2014 The conversation surrounding mental health has evolved from focusing on work-life balance to emphasizing overall life balance, according to a local mental health professional speaking to Lima Rotarians.<\/p>\n
Members of the Lima Rotary Club heard a presentation titled \u201cHeartbeat of Mental Health\u201d from fellow Rotarian Jennifer Truman, a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Lima Memorial Health System.<\/p>\n

Truman said finding purpose in life is key to achieving fulfillment and maintaining positive mental health. She explained that many aspects of daily living \u2014 including diet, exercise, sleep, finances and spirituality \u2014 all contribute to a person\u2019s overall mental well-being and must remain balanced.<\/p>\n
She also emphasized that while it is normal to occasionally feel down, prolonged symptoms should not be ignored.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you’re noticing that it’s just hard to shake or hard to overcome that depression, if you’re staying in bed longer, if you’re noticing that you’re maybe not doing normal daily hygiene as easily as you usually do, or you notice a change in your appetite, your energy level, if it’s lasting longer than two weeks, it’s usually a good idea to at least go see someone,\u201d Truman said.<\/p>\n
Following the presentation, members of the Lima Rotary Club donated $400 to the \u201cYou Matter\u201d initiative, which supports people who are struggling and encourages them to speak out, seek help and understand they are not alone.<\/p>\n
