John Travolta explained his bold looks at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, particularly, his choice to rock different colored berets.<\/a><\/p>\n

The actor, 72, first caused a stir with his choice of headgear Friday, when he sported a slouchy white beret and spectacles at the premiere of his directorial debut, \u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

He followed it up the next day with with a black beret paired with black wire-rimmed glasses<\/a> at the film\u2019s photocall Saturday.<\/p>\n

The \u201cGrease\u201d star said that he wanted to look the part of a director and not an actor. WireImage<\/p>\n

Travolta explained that he came up with the much-talked-about outfits because he wanted to present himself as a director and not an actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cI said, \u2018I\u2019m a director this time. You\u2019re an actor, play the part of a director, look like an old-school director,’\u201d he explained to CNN.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cSo I looked up pictures from the \u201920, \u201930s, \u201940s, \u201950, \u201960s, and the old-school directors wore berets, and the glasses, and I thought, \u2018That\u2019s what I\u2019m doing. I\u2019m doing an homage to being a director, so I\u2019m going to play the part of being a director.’\u201d<\/p>\n

The A-lister said he wanted to be able to look back at his outfits and remember the moment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll know \u2014 \u2018Oh, that was\u00a0\u2018Propeller One-Way Night Coach,\u2019 that was Cannes, that\u2019s when I won the Palme d\u2019Or,\u2019 and I\u2019ll have a vividness of it,\u201d he shared with a smile.<\/p>\n

Travolta was presented with an honorary Cannes Palme d\u2019Or\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 the equivalent of a lifetime achievement award \u2014 at this year\u2019s annual festival.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve never been more proud to win an award!\u201d he posted on Instagram<\/a> Friday of the achievement. \u201cTo me the Cannes Palme d\u2019Or award has always represented art at its finest. It is beyond a humbling experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

He called getting the lifetime achievement award \u201ca humbling experience.\u201d WireImage<\/p>\n

His 26-year-old daughter, Ella \u2014 who stars in \u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d alongside her father \u2014 commented, \u201cI\u2019m so proud of you\u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPropeller One-Way Night Coach\u201d follows a young airplane enthusiast named Jeff and his mother, who go on a one-way, cross-country journey to Hollywood.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s based on his own 1997 children\u2019s novel of the same name.<\/p>\n

Ella, who\u2019s been by her dad\u2019s side promoting the film at Cannnes, plays a flight attendant in the film.<\/p>\n
