The NHL announced an important change regarding the attribution of a controversial goal scored last night between the Montreal Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres.<\/p>\n

Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News shared the information on social media.<\/p>\n

“They just gave Greenway the Sabres goal. Hmmm.”<\/p>\n

Sportsnet also shared footage of the sequence in question:<\/p>\n

The NHL apparently determined that the puck touched Jordan Greenway’s leg before entering the Canadiens’ net<\/p>\n

Buffalo journalist Lance Lysowski also confirmed the official goal change on social media.<\/p>\n

“Sabres’ first goal was credited to Jordan Greenway, his second of the playoffs.”<\/p>\n

Mike Harrington also provided a few additional details regarding the NHL’s official decision.<\/p>\n

“Guess they ruled it ticked Greenway in the leg.”<\/p>\n

The goal was therefore removed from defenseman Mattias Samuelsson’s record and officially awarded to Greenway.<\/p>\n

According to the NHL’s official analysis, the puck apparently touched Greenway’s leg before entering Jakub Dobes<\/a>‘ net.<\/p>\n

That slight deflection therefore justified the official scoring change.<\/p>\n

In short, it is interesting to note, but the Canadiens must now focus on the Carolina Hurricanes.<\/p>\n

Game 1 is scheduled for Thursday night at PNC Arena.<\/p>\n

And all of the Canadiens’ attention will now turn toward this historic matchup that could send the team to the Stanley Cup Final.<\/p>\n
