\n President Donald Trump said Wednesday the United States will make an announcement on the embargo against Cuba \u201cpretty soon.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe\u2019ll see. We\u2019ll be announcing it pretty soon,\u201d Trump said when asked how long he anticipates the embargo will be in place.\n <\/p>\n

\n There\u2019s a longstanding economic embargo, as well as an oil blockade, against Cuba that has pushed the island\u2019s energy crisis<\/a> to its limits.\n <\/p>\n

\n Asked whether the Cuban people should expect \u201cany escalation,\u201d Trump told reporters: \u201cNo, there won\u2019t be escalation. I don\u2019t think there needs to be. Look, the place is falling apart. It\u2019s a mess, and they\u2019ve sort of lost control. They\u2019ve really lost control of Cuba.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n Trump praised acting Attorney General Todd Blanche in relation to the indictment of former Cuban President Ra\u00fal Castro<\/a>, and said the US has \u201cCuba on our mind.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cThis was a big \u2014 I think it was a very big moment for people that, not only Cuban Americans, but people that came from Cuba that want to go back to Cuba, people who want to see their family in Cuba,\u201d Trump added.\n <\/p>\n

\n Asked about CIA Director John Ratcliffe\u2019s trip to Cuba last week, Trump said, \u201cWe have a lot of people there,\u201d including the CIA, and also noted Secretary of State Marco Rubio\u2019s familial ties to Cuba.\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cWe have a lot of expertise in Cuba,\u201d Trump said. \u201cThey\u2019ve been looking for this moment for 65 years, so we\u2019ll see what happens.\u201d\n <\/p>\n

\n \u201cIn the meantime, we have to help them out. They have no, no way of living. They have no food, they have no electricity, they have no energy at all.
