{"id":655177,"date":"2026-05-20T21:27:12","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T21:27:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/655177\/"},"modified":"2026-05-20T21:27:12","modified_gmt":"2026-05-20T21:27:12","slug":"sinkhole-closes-runway-at-laguardia-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/655177\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinkhole closes runway at LaGuardia Airport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A sinkhole on the runway at LaGuardia Airport is causing delays Wednesday, airport officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Port Authority officials were doing routine inspections Wednesday when they discovered a sinkhole about 11 a.m. near Runway 4\/22, according to a statement from the airport.<\/p>\n<p>The runway was shut down and emergency construction and engineering crews responded to start repairs. Officials did not say what caused the sinkhole, but said crews would make repairs &#8220;as quickly and safely as possible.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Airlines and travelers were advised to expect delays and flight\u00a0cancellations.
