The No. 1 overall pick has been \u201cas advertised\u201d thus far, coach Klint Kubiak said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;[He has] not disappointed,\u201d Kubiak said, via Ryan McFadden of ESPN. \u201cHe\u2019s working his tail off. It\u2019s very important to him that he asks a lot of great questions when he gets on the field. He\u2019s no B.S.; <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/48829357\/raiders-rookie-fernando-mendoza-impresses-coaches-teammates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he\u2019s all ball<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Raiders are easing Mendoza into the offense, with Kirk Cousins taking first-team reps, followed by Aidan O\u2019Connell and then Mendoza.<\/p>\n<p>Kubiak has repeatedly said <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/klint-kubiak-ideally-you-dont-want-a-rookie-qb-to-start-from-day-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">he would prefer<\/a> that a rookie quarterback not start Day 1, and the sportsbooks like Cousins to start Week 1. But the Raiders are giving Mendoza every chance to win the job.<\/p>\n<p>Mendoza is going the extra mile, putting in the work, asking questions and taking notes. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnything that you put in front of him, he\u2019s going to attack it,\u201d Kubiak said. \u201cAnything new, he spends extra time on.
