Dylan Harper\u2019s injury hit the headlines in the second half of the San Antonio Spurs\u2019 Game 2 of the conference finals against the OKC Thunder on Wednesday. Harper left the game after a collision with Chet Holmgren<\/a> late in the third quarter. He landed awkwardly on his leg and went back to the locker room.<\/p>\n

Harper seemed fine as he jogged back to the bench. However, the Spurs\u2019 training staff immediately instructed him to return to the locker room for further evaluation. Shortly, the Spurs announced Harper had been ruled out due to a right leg injury. Here\u2019s the video of this incident:<\/p>\n

Harper played 25 minutes, scoring 12 points and three assists on 5 of 10 shots. He played 47 minutes in Game 1 after it went to double overtime. Harper has been filling in for De\u2019Aaron Fox<\/a> at the point of attack for the Spurs, so it\u2019s a tough blow given San Antonio<\/a> is running out of options at the one.<\/p>\n

Harper had been excellent in the role, especially in Game 1, after he dropped a historic stat line of 24 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and seven steals. If Fox doesn\u2019t return and Harper is ruled out for an extended period, the Spurs\u2019 offense could struggle heavily, especially in crunch time.<\/p>\n

The Spurs struggled down the stretch after Dylan Harper\u2019s injury exit. They cut OKC\u2019s lead to two early in the fourth, but from that point on, they scored only 16 points in the final nine minutes. San Antonio struggled against OKC\u2019s ball pressure without an additional ball handler like Harper.<\/p>\n

They couldn\u2019t generate the shots they usually do and that\u2019s where the Thunder capitalized. The Spurs\u2019 defense was also compromised in Harper\u2019s absence, given how disruptive he can be. The Thunder ensured they made the most of it, especially Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>, who scored six points in the quarter, finishing with 30 for the game.<\/p>\n
