The first trailer for NBC\u2019s spinoff from \u201cThe Office,\u201d \u201cThe Paper,\u201d shows Domnhall Gleeson\u2019s character Ned Sampson struggling to patch together a failing Midwest newspaper.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave you read this paper? How do you think it compares to any other paper?\u201d Chelse Frei says as her character. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt sucks,\u201d Ned says without hesitation. \u201cBut we are going to make it better.\u201d <\/p>\n

The newsroom, which is the latest subject to be covered by the same film crew that documented the staffers at Dunder Mifflin Paper Co., is filled with nothing but lazy workers and untrained journalists whose highest level of skill is shown through a report about how much Ben Affleck tipped his driver. Let\u2019s just say, Ned, the writer\u2019s new editor-in-chief, has got his work printed out for him. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy name is Ned Sampson, I am your new editor-in-chief,\u201d Sampson tells the newsroom on his first day. \u201cI hope it not too disruptive to have me come in and sort of shake everything up.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, no, no, no. Don\u2019t be so self-defecating,\u201d Sabrina Impacciatore\u2019s character Esmeralda responds, leaving Ned in a confused state. <\/p>\n

Though he\u2019s lined up with writers and volunteers who have no idea what journalism means outside of text group chats and tweeting, Ned is motivated to make a change. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s show \u2019em how it\u2019s done,\u201d Ned says, <\/p>\n

And at least they\u2019ll have Oscar Nu\u00f1ez, who reprises his role as Oscar Martinez \u2026 who isn\u2019t at all excited about being filmed for a documentary again.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot again!\u201d Oscar exclaims. \u201cI\u2019m not approving any of this. I will make this unusable \u2014 f\u2014k! Use that!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Paper,\u201d which is co-created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, is executive produced by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman and Banijay Americas. The series\u00a0 premieres on Peacock on Sept. 4. It will debut with four episodes, followed by two new episodes every Thursday through September 25 only on Peacock.<\/p>\n
