{"id":657507,"date":"2026-05-22T01:09:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-22T01:09:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/657507\/"},"modified":"2026-05-22T01:09:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-22T01:09:08","slug":"jaylon-johnson-not-participating-in-voluntary-offseason-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/657507\/","title":{"rendered":"Jaylon Johnson not participating in voluntary offseason work"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is not participating in the team\u2019s voluntary offseason program.<\/p>\n<p>Defensive backs coach Al Harris revealed Johnson\u2019s absence on Thursday when Adam Hoge of CHGO Bears asked how Johnson was doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamHoge\/status\/2057550984511996106\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">We\u2019re going to talk about<\/a> the guys that\u2019s just been out there,\u201d Harris said, via Hoge. \u201cTo respect to Jaylon and the organization, we\u2019ll just talk about the guys that\u2019s been out there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Johnson\u2019s absence from Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the program is not unusual, as he spends his offseason in California with his daughter. The Bears don\u2019t begin organized team activities until next week, and Johnson is required to attend only the mandatory minicamp on June 9-11.<\/p>\n<p>His absence is notable, however, given that he played only seven games last season and failed to make the Pro Bowl for the first time since 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson will enter the third year of a four-year, $76 million contract under the microscope, with no guaranteed money left on his deal after this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no doubt that, fully healthy or whatnot, that we\u2019ll get what we need to see,\u201d Harris said. \u201cNo doubt about that at all.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson is not participating in the team\u2019s voluntary offseason program.
