Nicki Minaj<\/a> made a surprise appearance at SpaceX\u2019s Starbase in Texas on Thursday, but her words of praise for the company\u2019s CEO Elon Musk<\/a> weren\u2019t enough to ensure a successful flight. <\/p>\n

The rapper gave a brief interview to SpaceX staff<\/a>, where she gushed about the \u201chistoric\u201d nature of the event. She also wore a T-shirt emblazoned with the word \u201cStarship\u201d \u2015 a nod both to the name of the megarocket<\/a> that had been intended for a test launch as well as her smash 2012 single, \u201cStarships<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a major moment, y\u2019all,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n

Minaj capped the interview by offering a \u201cmajor shout-out\u201d to Musk, noting: \u201cThank you for everything that you\u2019re doing for humanity.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the time of Minaj\u2019s interview, only six minutes remained before Starship\u2019s planned launch. Unfortunately, a technical issue \u2015 described by Musk on X<\/a> as a faulty hydraulic pin \u2015 meant the launch had to be postponed until at least Friday evening. <\/p>\n

Even though things didn\u2019t go exactly as planned, Minaj and Musk exchanged pleasantries<\/a> on X, with Minaj describing<\/a> Starbase as \u201ca magical place.\u201d <\/p>\n

Though Minaj\u2019s Starbase appearance had been kept under wraps, her apparently chummy relationship with Musk seems in line with her recent political shift. <\/p>\n

As a one-time senior adviser to President Donald Trump<\/a>, Musk headed up the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, where he controversially facilitated mass layoffs<\/a> and staff reductions before leaving the administration in May of last year. <\/p>\n

While the world\u2019s wealthiest man became a polarizing figure in the GOP after publicly clashing<\/a> with Trump, he appears to be back in the president\u2019s good graces and has made significant donations<\/a> to Republicans<\/a> in congressional races <\/a>ahead of this fall\u2019s midterms. <\/p>\n

Minaj has wholeheartedly embraced<\/a> Trump and his MAGA agenda<\/a> in recent months, going as far as to describe herself as the president\u2019s \u201cNo. 1 fan<\/a>.\u201d <\/p>\n

Speaking to Time magazine<\/a> earlier this month, the 12-time Grammy nominee said she\u2019d quietly supported Trump for years, but feared her public endorsement would draw a backlash among her industry peers. <\/p>\n

\u201cI felt that way already about him, just that I didn\u2019t dare act like that publicly,\u201d she told the outlet<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s been ingrained in everyone\u2019s brain in the music business that we are supposed to be a Democratic family.
