Wildlife of Wisconsin then contacted its veterinarian partner at Memorial Drive Veterinary Clinic for further evaluation, including X-rays.

One eaglet was found to be healthy, while the other had a broken pelvis and likely a cracked rib. The injured bird’s breathing has improved as it heals, and rehabilitators are weighing how soon it can be returned to the nest area.

With the original nest destroyed, the next challenge was whether the adult eagles would accept a replacement.

Working with guidance from The Raptor Center in Minnesota, landowners built a new platform nest near the original site. One eaglet has now been placed in that reconstructed nest while volunteers and rehabilitators watch for signs the parents will resume feeding and caring for it.

In a new Facebook post on Saturday, Wildlife of Wisconsin says the parent eagles have accepted the nest and are now caring for the eaglets.

The eaglet suffering a pelvic fracture is also doing well and is expected to be reunited to the nest toward the end of the week.

Copyright 2026 WBAY.
