This was not a good week. There were a lot of lost opportunities out on the field against the Ohio teams, series that frankly should have been won. There is also the time coming for a few conversations that need to be had in the front office.<\/p>\n
Three up<\/p>\n
Bryson Stott \u2013 This was a good week for Stott, hitting .350\/.409\/.550 in 22 plate appearances. He\u2019s getting more regular playing time against left handers than he got under Rob Thomson and while the results aren\u2019t exactly there, he\u2019s showing more confidence at the plate.<\/p>\n

Alec Bohm<\/a> \u2013 Hitting two home runs in a week for Bohm constitutes a monumental achievement and that\u2019s what Bohm did. He\u2019s officially out of his early season funk and is playing well. The question does start to become: what of his future? Aidan Miller is just now starting to do baseball activities, which means he won\u2019t be ready any time soon to even start swinging a bat. Is the team really going to entrust him with a spot in 2027 with just a half a season of playing time in 2026? Would Bohm even be interested in coming back? Will there even be baseball in 2027?<\/p>\n Cristopher Sanchez \u2013 I mean, I don\u2019t really need to say much else. He\u2019s the best pitcher in baseball right now, full stop.<\/p>\n Three down<\/p>\n Trea Turner<\/a> \u2013 Trea Turner is playing horribly right now. He\u2019s looking the part of Nick Castellanos<\/a>, flailing at any kind of breaking pitch that is just off the plate and looking rather feeble doing so. Yet, he continues to occupy the top spot in the lineup. Mattingly hasn\u2019t done much wrong in his short tenure with the team, but there needs to be some serious questioning of his continued insistence on Turner at the top of the lineup. Granted, the options to replace him are limited, but while he is hitting this poorly, maybe a Stott to lead things off is a better option. There should be more conversations about this amongst the front office and coaching staff.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n left handed relievers \u2013 Tim Mayza<\/a>, Jose Alvarado<\/a> and Tanner Banks<\/a> combined for five innings this week, allowing eleven hits, seven runs and only striking out four. The bullpen has been a bit of a roller coaster this season, but the lack of effective left handed relief is going to have to be something that is addressed sooner rather than later. God helps us that we are relying on Kyle Backhus<\/a> to get healthy soon.<\/p>\n
