As we\u2019ve done in previous years, we\u2019re taking a look at Pittsburgh Steelers who are on Reserve\/Future contracts for the 2026 offseason, as well as what we can expect from them during training camp and (hopefully) into the regular season. Today, an outlook on S Jack Henderson.<\/p>\n

Jack Henderson\/S Minnesota \u2013 6017, 203 pounds<\/p>\n

Jack Henderson might win the award for the most obscure and forgotten player on the Steelers\u2019 offseason roster. At the least, he\u2019s right up there. His time with Pittsburgh has been brief. Originally signed last October to the practice squad, the Steelers released him in November to make room for WR John Rhys Plumlee. Henderson only returned to the roster in January after Pittsburgh\u2019s season ended.<\/p>\n

Well-built out of Minnesota, Henderson had a strong 2024 season. Especially impactful behind the line of scrimmage, he racked up nine tackles for a loss and six sacks to pair with one interception and forced fumble. Beginning his career at SE Louisiana, Henderson showed he could play up a level, joining Minnesota in 2023 as a nickel before moving into a full-time role the following year.<\/p>\n

Henderson\u2019s no stranger to making noise late. He played lacrosse his first three years of high school<\/a> before trying his hand at football as a senior. He picked off a pair of passes early in the year, putting him on FCS radars, though it was too late to draw FBS attention.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s worthwhile athleticism to check out. At his Pro Day, Henderson ran a respectable 4.54 40 and really shined in his jumps and agility drills: a 39.5-inch vertical, 10\u20198\u2033 broad, and 6.81 three-cone.<\/p>\n

Before Pittsburgh, Henderson spent time with the Carolina Panthers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last summer, he logged 51 defensive preseason snaps, seeing time at free safety, in the box, and the slot. He played another 35 on special teams across five units.<\/p>\n

Even without Darnell Savage, whose signing was reported in March but never actually happened, the Steelers have safety depth. Jalen Ramsey, DeShon Elliott, and Jaquan Brisker are locks. Robert Spears-Jennings is a draft pick, albeit a seventh rounder, while the team was high on Sebastian Castro last year. A new coaching staff cleans the slate for the group, but Henderson still has a tall task ahead.
