As a result, there are still a lot of unknowns about what Bech is capable of at the NFL level \u2013 especially considering the offensive coaching staff in Las Vegas last year was borderline incompetent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year, though, it sounds like the coaching staff has a plan for Bech and Silver &amp; Black Sports Network\u2019s Jesse Merrick talked about that dynamic last week after the team\u2019s initial OTA sessions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI do want to note that we didn\u2019t see Jalen Nailor out there today and, in his place, Jack Bech was really active,\u201d Merrick said. \u201cPrevious staff didn\u2019t seem to have a plan for Jack Bech. I watched one practice [at this year\u2019s OTAs] and it is very clear to see that this team, this staff, has a clear plan for Jack Bech [and] understands what his skill set is,\u201d Merrick said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think there are brighter things on the horizon for Jack Bech\u2026 Already, Jack Bech is in a much better place, and I think he\u2019s going to be set up to succeed in this offense, and we got little glimpses of that today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bech came to the Raiders a year ago by way of a second-round pick after GM John Spytek traded down twice in the round. At the time, former NFL wide receiver Steve Smith made an interesting statement about Bech\u2019s fit in the NFL. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI think [Bech] creates more of a mismatch as a tight end rather than a wide receiver,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raidersbeat.com\/smith-says-raiders-2nd-round-wr-should-play-te\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Smith said in May of last year<\/a>. \u201cI think he\u2019s not as fast as you would want him to be, but he becomes a pass catcher and nightmare for a linebacker to cover.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plan under last year\u2019s coaching staff was to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raidersbeat.com\/teammate-drops-hint-on-raiders-wr-bech\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">move Bech around<\/a> on offense, but with so much disfunction under former offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, nothing seemed to come together in 2025 the way it was supposed to. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Going forward, the Raiders are hoping to see if one of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raidersbeat.com\/flagship-hosts-agree-on-how-raiders-will-approach-the-wide-receiver-room-in-26\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">young wide receivers will emerge<\/a>, and Bech should have every opportunity (along with Dont\u2019e Thornton Jr.) to have a more prominent role in his second season.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">x: <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/raidersbeat\" rel=\"nofollow\">@raidersbeat<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Will Jack Bech be a bigger part of the Raiders\u2019 offense in his second season?
