NEW YORK \u2013 After weeks of repeated injury drama, the Cincinnati Reds<\/a> look like they might be on the verge of nearing full strength again.<\/p>\n

Less than a week after the returns from injuries of slugger Eugenio Su\u00e1rez<\/a> and reliever Caleb Ferguson<\/a>, starting pitcher Rhett Lowder<\/a> (shoulder) was scheduled to ramp up his throwing program with a full-speed simulated game before the final game of the Reds\u2019 three-game series against the Mets<\/a> in New York.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s to be evaluated after that two- or three-inning sim game to determine whether the next step is the start of a brief minor-league rehab assignment.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything\u2019s feeling good,\u201d said Lowder, who hasn\u2019t pitched since exiting his May 7 start<\/a> with shoulder pain. \u201cIt\u2019s been a lot of work, but I\u2019m feeling good with where we\u2019re at.\u201d<\/p>\n

If Lowder\u2019s next step after Wednesday is rehab games, it might take only one or two starts, which could put his timeline for a return sometime in the middle of that St. Louis-San Diego road trip in less than two weeks, depending on each step.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shouldn\u2019t be many,\u201d Lowder said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying to give him as much as we can without going too far,\u201d manager Terry Francona said. \u201cAnd that\u2019s always a little delicate. But he seems to be doing really good.\u201d<\/p>\n

That would mean having five of the Reds\u2019 top six starters together in the rotation for the first time this season, before mid-June: also Chase Burns<\/a>, Andrew Abbott<\/a>, Nick Lodolo<\/a> and Brady Singer.<\/p>\n

And ace Hunter Greene<\/a>, who had bone chips removed from his elbow in March, travels to Cincinnati this weekend for a first look by the big-league staff since starting a throwing program Tuesday in Arizona<\/a>. His timeline for a return sometime around the trade deadline hasn’t changed.<\/p>\n

Also, closer Emilio Pag\u00e1n<\/a> and backup catcher Jose Trevino<\/a> \u2013 both of whom are on the IL with hamstring injuries \u2013 are scheduled for followup MRIs on Friday.<\/p>\n

Francona said Pag\u00e1n\u2019s second MRI since suffering a long-term hamstring injury three weeks ago in Chicago<\/a> is to evaluate the progress of the healing.<\/p>\n

For Trevino, whose injury is less serious, the club plans to determine how much activity to allow Trevino to add to his rehab work.<\/p>\n
