Patrick Mahomes is seemingly recovering well from the torn ACL and LCL he suffered in December. <\/p>\n
The Kansas City Chiefs posted a video of the quarterback throwing passes on Tuesday, and Mahomes himself shared the same video with a clock emoji:<\/p>\n
ESPN’s Nate Taylor first reported the quarterback returned to the field for OTAs on Tuesday and “did participate in some form or fashion.”<\/p>\n
The extent of Mahomes’ participation in OTAs is unclear, but head coach Andy Reid\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0earlier this month that the former MVP was trending towards being “able to do some things.<\/p>\n “If he can do some things, [he’ll do it]. Phase 2 [of the offseason program], remember, there’s no contact and there’s no offense versus defense,” Reid said. “It’s Phase 3 that you get into that. … He’s in a position where he can do everything, I think.”<\/p>\n Reid also\u00a0said<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0The Rich Eisen Show\u00a0earlier this month that Mahomes is “getting better every day” and is “not taking any setbacks.” Reid didn’t confirm that Mahomes would be ready to go for Week 1, but he at least left the door open.<\/p>\n “It’s a day-to-day thing, and as long as he keeps making progress forward, maybe we’ll have a chance to see him in the first game. But we’ll play that as we go,” Reid said.<\/p>\n The recovery time for Mahomes’ injury is typically around nine months, which would have him back on the field by September. He\u00a0told reporters<\/a>\u00a0a month after having surgery that Week 1 was the goal.<\/p>\n
