On the Republican Party ballot, Smith County residents joined other Texans to choose between John Cornyn and Ken Paxton for United States senator Republican nominee. On the state level, they voted for or either Chip Roy or Mayes Middleton for attorney general nominee; Jim Wright or Bo French for railroad commissioner nominee; and Thomas Smith or Alison Fox for Republican judge nominee on the court of criminal appeals for Place 3.<\/p>\n
On the Democratic Party ballot, Smith County voters joined others in Texas\u2019 First Congressional District to choose between Dax Alexander or Yolanda Prince as the Democratic nominee for United States representative. The winner will challenge incumbent U.S. Rep. Nathaniel Moran (R-Tyler) in November.<\/p>\n
On the state level, Democratic voters cast a vote for either Marcos Isaias Velez or Vikki Goodwin for lieutenant governor nominee. In the Texas attorney general race, Democratic voters were choosing from Joe Jaworksi or Nathan Johnson to become their nominee in November.<\/p>\n
The winners of the primary runoff will earn a place on the ballot in the November general election.<\/p>\n
Voters who voted in the primary were required to vote on the same ticket they cast a ballot on in March. So if a resident voted Republican in the March primary, they voted on the Republican ballot again for the runoff election, and vice versa for those who voted Democrat in March. Registered voters who did not vote in March were able to cast a vote on either ballot but not both.<\/p>\n
The City of Tyler mayoral runoff is not on the ballot. That election is set for June 13, with early voting beginning June 1.<\/p>\n
