{"id":668848,"date":"2026-05-27T21:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T21:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/668848\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T21:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T21:54:08","slug":"andy-robertson-close-to-joining-tottenham-after-liverpool-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/668848\/","title":{"rendered":"Andy Robertson close to joining Tottenham after Liverpool exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/tottenham-hotspur\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham<\/a> are close to agreeing a deal with Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 32-year-old played his final match for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/brentford\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brentford<\/a> on Sunday, having <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/articles\/cp8d4jvj108o\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced he would leave the club<\/a> when his contract ends this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Details remain to be finalised on the deal with Spurs but an agreement is in place in principle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/tottenham-hotspur\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tottenham<\/a>, then managed by Thomas Frank, targeted Robertson during the January transfer window. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A deal was agreed between the two clubs, only for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> to pull out when they were unable to recall Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Spurs secured survival on the final day of the season by beating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/everton\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Everton<\/a> under new manager Roberto de Zerbi.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The vastly experienced Robertson, who also has 92 caps for Scotland and will lead his country at this summer&#8217;s World Cup, played 378 times for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/liverpool\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> and won two Premier League titles and the Champions League.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Tottenham are close to agreeing a deal with Scotland full-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool.
