GREEN BAY \u2013 The Packers conducted their second OTA practice of the spring on Wednesday at Ray Nitschke Field, the first that was open to the media.<\/p>\n
Head Coach Matt LaFleur answered questions prior to practice, but there was no player availability afterward.<\/p>\n
Here are five things learned from the workout:<\/p>\n
Regarding Josh Jacobs<\/a>‘ legal matter, the Packers will “let the process play out.”<\/p>\n That was LaFleur’s only comment regarding Jacobs’ Tuesday arrest stemming from a domestic situation last weekend. During practice, county prosecutors issued a statement indicating Jacobs had been released from custody, and law enforcement would be investigating further before “a formal charging decision is made.”<\/p>\n Jacobs was one of 16 players on the Packers’ current roster who did not participate in Wednesday’s workout. The others were: defensive linemen Micah Parsons<\/a>, Devonte Wyatt<\/a>, Jordon Riley<\/a> and Jonathan Ford<\/a>; offensive linemen Zach Tom<\/a>, Jacob Monk<\/a> and Donovan Jennings<\/a>; tight ends Tucker Kraft<\/a> and Drake Dabney<\/a>; defensive backs Benjamin St-Juste<\/a>, Domani Jackson<\/a> and Kamal Hadden<\/a>; linebacker Isaiah McDuffie<\/a>; and running back Damien Martinez<\/a>.<\/p>\n All reports are positive on Parsons’, Kraft’s and Tom’s recoveries from knee surgeries.<\/p>\n Parsons was not present Wednesday and is expected back in Green Bay soon. LaFleur said he’s “doing great” with his ACL rehab and anticipates he’ll begin training camp in late July on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.<\/p>\n Kraft (ACL) and Tom (patellar tendon) were going through their rehabs off to the side during practice, and LaFleur indicated they’re targeted to return for training camp.<\/p>\n “Tuck looks great right now,” LaFleur said. “He looks so good, you want to put him out there. But certainly we’re still early in that process, and hopefully he’ll be ready to go either by training camp or early in training camp.”<\/p>\n The 11-on-11 work provided a glance at the current depth chart.<\/p>\n In Parsons’ absence, Lukas Van Ness<\/a> and Barryn Sorrell<\/a> were the edge rushers with the first-team defense, while Brenton Cox Jr.<\/a> rotated in. With Wyatt out, the interior D-line featured Javon Hargrave<\/a>, Karl Brooks<\/a> and Warren Brinson<\/a>, with rookie Chris McClellan<\/a> in the rotation.<\/p>\n At cornerback, Carrington Valentine<\/a> lined up opposite Keisean Nixon<\/a> on the first unit, with rookie Brandon Cisse<\/a> also getting some reps.<\/p>\n On offense, Darian Kinnard<\/a> was in Tom’s spot at right tackle with the No. 1 offense, while Luke Musgrave<\/a> and Josh Whyle<\/a> took the tight end snaps. Chris Brooks<\/a> and Pierre Strong Jr.<\/a> handled the running back duties in Jacobs’ absence. MarShawn Lloyd<\/a> had taken 11-on-11 reps Tuesday but was not involved in them Wednesday after going through individual drills.<\/p>\n Both sides made some highlight-reel plays.<\/p>\n Safety Evan Williams<\/a> swooped over on a Jordan Love<\/a> deep ball \u2013 which appeared to get hung up in the wind \u2013 intended for Christian Watson<\/a> and snagged the interception. Nixon also had an impressive pass breakup on a throw for Musgrave as Love was escaping a Xavier McKinney<\/a> blitz.<\/p>\n Watson got some measure of revenge with a leaping grab on a deep crosser that allowed him to break away and turn upfield.<\/p>\n
