{"id":669058,"date":"2026-05-28T00:18:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T00:18:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/669058\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T00:18:08","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T00:18:08","slug":"sharks-jimmy-huntington-to-one-year-two-way-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/669058\/","title":{"rendered":"Sharks Jimmy Huntington to one-year, two-way contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>San Jose Sharks\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sanjosesharks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">@SanJoseSharks<\/a>) General Manager\u00a0Mike Grier\u00a0announced today that the club has\u00a0re-signed\u00a0forward\u00a0Jimmy Huntington\u00a0to a\u00a0one-year, two-way contract.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Huntington, 27, finished the 2025-26 season tied for second on the San Jose Barracuda\u00a0of the American Hockey League (AHL)\u00a0with 48 points over 71 games,\u00a0ranking third on the team with 33 assists and sixth with 15 goals. He set career highs in points, goals, assists,\u00a0power-play goals (five)\u00a0and games played (71) in his first season in San Jose.\u00a0Over the course of the season, Huntington strung together a pair of four-game point streaks\u00a0and logged 11 multi-point efforts with three three-point outings.\u00a0He appeared in two Calder Cup Playoff games, registering one goal and one assist.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of Huntington\u2019s\u00a0AHL tenure, the forward has amassed 165 career points (59 goals, 106 assists) over 315 regular season games split between the Barracuda, Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins (2024-25), Hershey Bears (2023-24), Milwaukee Admirals (2021-23)\u00a0and Syracuse Crunch (2019-22).\u00a0He helped Hershey capture the Calder Cup in 2024, finishing the postseason with 14 points\u00a0(five goals, nine assists) over 20 games,\u00a0tying for\u00a0fourth on the Bears in\u00a0playoff scoring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his AHL\u00a0experience, Huntington also appeared in 17 ECHL games with the Orlando Solar Bears in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 campaigns, totaling 12 points (five goals, seven assists).\u00a0Prior to his professional career, Huntington played in five QMJHL seasons split between the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, Victoriaville Tigres and Rimouski Oceanic.\u00a0He earned league Second All-Star Team honors in his final season in the circuit in 2018-19, a year in which he\u00a0posted personal bests of 92 points, 40 goals and 52 assists over 66 games.
