{"id":671260,"date":"2026-05-29T02:20:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T02:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/671260\/"},"modified":"2026-05-29T02:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T02:20:09","slug":"ibrahima-konate-poised-to-leave-liverpool-after-failing-to-agree-new-contract-liverpool","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/671260\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibrahima Konat\u00e9 poised to leave Liverpool after failing to agree new contract | Liverpool"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Ibrahima Konat\u00e9 looks set to leave <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/football\/liverpool\" data-link-name=\"in body link\" data-component=\"auto-linked-tag\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liverpool<\/a> after failing to agree a contract extension.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">The 27-year-old\u2019s representatives have been in extensive talks with the club about extending his five-year stay at Anfield but it now looks certain that the France international will leave for free.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">If Konat\u00e9 walks away from Liverpool out of contract, it will be the second consecutive year \u2013 after Trent Alexander-Arnold ran down his deal before a \u00a310m move to Real Madrid \u2013 that the club will have lost one of their first-choice defenders without receiving a significant fee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">Konat\u00e9 has had a disappointing season but losing an established centre-back will come as a blow for the sporting director Richard Hughes, with new defensive recruits J\u00e9r\u00e9my Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni both working their way back to fitness after significant injuries and transfer speculation swirling over the future of Joe Gomez.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">With Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson also leaving, Konat\u00e9\u2019s departure would mean another mainstay of the J\u00fcrgen Klopp era departing. The Paris-born player is now likely to be courted by Paris Saint-Germain, although Chelsea have also been linked with a move.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">In April the defender hinted he would like to stay at Anfield when he opened up about the contract negotiations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">He said: \u201cMy future? There are many things people have said but for a long time we have spoken with the club and we are close to an agreement. I think everyone wished for that for as long as possible but we are in a good way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"dcr-130mj7b\">\u201cThere is a big chance I\u2019m here next season. This is what I always wanted.
