Mike Vrabel didn\u2019t directly discuss the ongoing drama around his extracurricular relationship with Dianna Russini during Wednesday\u2019s New England Patriots press conference, but he did say one thing that caught the ear of Pro Football Talk\u2019s Mike Florio.<\/p>\n
It came when Vrabel was asked if he might miss more football activities this season<\/a>, such as when he excused himself from the final day of the NFL Draft<\/a> to attend counseling and spend time with his family.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, I can only tell you I\u2019m gonna be there today, and I can\u2019t tell you anything other than I\u2019m gonna be out there today in full force,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201cAnd I mean that because, you know, who knows what\u2019s gonna come up? I\u2019m not even \u2014 you know, anything could happen. And so I\u2019m gonna focus on today. There\u2019s no indication. There\u2019s been nothing. No leaks, no scoops. The only thing that made me think that it\u2019s going to happen is your guy Stugotz made the comment that he\u2019s friends with her and he\u2019s talked to her, and he\u2019s not going to speak for her. It\u2019s her story to tell in her own time<\/a>. That implies that she will.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the moment that I said, \u2018uh-oh, there\u2019s going to be a chapter of this that is very public and very interesting because she\u2019s going to tell her story at some point.\u2019 That\u2019s the next thing. That\u2019s the only thing left.<\/p>\n \u201cSo yeah, that could come up and that could create a situation where Mike Vrabel could, could end up yet again having to take a break from the team to try to restore the balance between his work life and his personal life.\u201d<\/p>\n Vrabel\u2019s playbook, to vaguely apologize for \u201csomething\u201d and attempt to move forward<\/a>, inadvertently made Russini look bad because she had denied anything untoward had happened before then. Now, painted as a harlot in the public eye and having seen an immense amount of reputational damage, Russini doesn\u2019t have too much to lose by telling all at some point in the future, especially when she can use that as a springboard to her next career chapter<\/a>.<\/p>\n Vrabel\u2019s. strategy implies that he either knows that\u2019s not coming or that he\u2019s just hoping that day never comes.<\/p>\n \t
