Shane van Gisbergen looked unstoppable at Sonoma Raceway this weekend, grabbing another pole position and leaving his competitors scratching their heads. The New Zealand driver\u2019s road course dominance has gotten so ridiculous that Chase Briscoe came up with a hilarious solution.<\/p>\n

After watching van Gisbergen\u2019s Chevrolet\u00a0grab another pole position, Briscoe jumped on X with a cheeky suggestion that had fans laughing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know about yall but I think @shanevg97 should start dead last at all road course races. Be fun to watch,\u201d he posted<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The response from fans showed just how dominant they think van Gisbergen really is. Many believed that even starting dead last wouldn\u2019t be enough to stop him from winning a road course race.<\/p>\n

One fan replied<\/a>, \u201cand he\u2019d STILL win!\u201d<\/p>\n

The jokes got even more creative from there. Another fan hilariously wrote<\/a>, \u201cSVG to start with him in the hauler and the car parked on pit road. Still wins by 25 seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n

While NASCAR isn\u2019t likely going to actually send van Gisbergen to the back of the grid, Briscoe\u2019s suggestion was hilarious and shows just how dominant the Kiwi has been on these tracks. Now, fans wait to see if van Gisbergen manages to win the Cup Series race at Sonoma Raceway today and continue his dominant streak.<\/p>\n

How Dominant Has Van Gisbergen Been on Road Courses?<\/p>\n

In his first full year in NASCAR, van Gisbergen has built a reputation that has competitors both impressed and frustrated. The Trackhouse Racing driver has now grabbed four straight poles, including both Cup and Xfinity Series races. That streak includes sweeping qualifying sessions in both Chicago and Sonoma.<\/p>\n

At Sonoma, van Gisbergen grabbed pole position in the Cup Series once again yesterday. It was his third pole of the 2025 season and fourth in his NASCAR career. Briscoe, who will start beside him on the front row today, had the second-fastest lap, which was far off van Gisbergen\u2019s time.<\/p>\n
