As the Seattle Seahawks get back on the field this week, we talk about all the usual suspects.<\/p>\n
Sam Darnold, what he\u2019s going to do here in Year 2<\/a>, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba<\/a>, and all the stars on the defense<\/a>, and are they going to sign Devin Witherspoon<\/a> \u2013 those are all real conversations.<\/p>\n Seahawks QB Sam Darnold details what helped \u2018unlock\u2019 career<\/a><\/p>\n But there\u2019s one that\u2019s easy to forget about, and it\u2019s one that we were having a lot more<\/a> about a year ago.<\/p>\n Where\u2019s Jalen Milroe?<\/p>\n This guy\u2019s got a significant talent. He can run as well as anybody else on this team, probably about as well as anybody else in this league, and certainly anybody who plays that quarterback position.<\/p>\n The Seahawks were so intrigued by him last year that they wanted him out on the field during the first couple of games, even just for a snap or two, just because he\u2019s got this one skill set that you can\u2019t teach and is really, really hard to find.<\/p>\n It obviously went away over the course of the season as Sam Darnold cemented himself as the starter, as somebody that you just could not take off the field given the season that he was having. And quite frankly, Milroe didn\u2019t do himself any favors by not playing particularly well and making it feel like the game sped up on him in those couple of plays that he got.<\/p>\n But what are you going to do with him now?<\/p>\n You\u2019re going to carry three quarterbacks again, I would think, with him and Drew Lock behind Darnold. I don\u2019t think they\u2019re going to trade him anytime soon.<\/p>\n Is there an opportunity to get him back on the field again? I hope so. I mean, it\u2019s not that I\u2019m looking to take Sam Darnold off the field. I get it. There\u2019s no reason to mess with success. But Milroe does bring that skill set, and I would love to see some ability to take advantage of it.<\/p>\n I don\u2019t know what that is and I\u2019m not going to pretend that I do. I really think it\u2019s going to be a challenge because Sam Darnold has proven himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the league, and unless he starts to struggle, there\u2019s no reason for him to ever come off the field.<\/p>\n But I sure would love to know what they have in store or what they believe Jalen Milroe could be eventually, because that talent has not gone anywhere.<\/p>\n This post is a transcript of the video at the top of the post.
