Set to arrive in theaters this September, the forthcoming movie <\/a>tracks the origins of the hit investigative news program, which ran from 2004 to 2007 and followed Hansen\u2019s operations to catch adult men arriving at a sting house to have sex with minors. Primetime also features Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Matthew Maher and Bokeem Woodbine, and marks director Lance Oppenheim\u2019s narrative feature film debut. <\/p>\n The film\u2019s first trailer was released earlier this week, and teases Pattinson\u2019s <\/a>strikingly transformed voice as Hansen. \u201cAt the end of the day, man must be held accountable for the decisions that he makes. Do you agree?\u201d he says in a voice-over. \u201cDo you watch television? Well, there\u2019s something you should know. I\u2019m Chris Hansen<\/a> with Dateline NBC, and you\u2019re about to be a part of television history.\u201d<\/p>\n Appearing on a recent segment of News Nation, Hansen, 66, addressed the movie\u2019s first look. <\/p>\n \u201cWhat? There\u2019s a movie trailer?\u201d he exclaimed, feigning shock. \u201cWhat will they think of next?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s an actor, right? Young, talented guy?\u201d he asked of Pattinson before being shown the clip. <\/p>\n \u201cI mean, he sounds a lot like you,\u201d argued newscaster Jesse Weber. \u201cDid you have any idea about this? Did you have any working relationship with this?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe had heard that there was something like this in the works,\u201d Hansen replied. \u201cThey reached out to me this week, and I\u2019ve been asked not to talk about it a great deal at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n When Weber again suggested Pattinson\u2019s impression was fairly accurate, Hansen somewhat agreed. \u201cLittle bit,\u201d he said. \u201cVery dramatic.\u201d<\/p>\n Hansen presented NBC Dateline\u2019s To Catch a Predator across its entire three-year run. The series was canceled in 2008, following the suicide of Texas assistant district attorney Bill Conradt after he was \u201ccaught\u201d and served an arrest warrant during production. <\/p>\n Hansen first joined the network in 1993 as a correspondent for Now with Tom Brokaw and Katie Couric. He has won a total of eight Emmy awards throughout his career for his investigative reporting. <\/p>\n While he parted ways with NBC in 2013, Hansen continues his work apprehending suspected pedophiles on Takedown with Chris Hansen, which streams on TruBlu.
