For better or worse, Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will always be tied together after their high-profile showdowns at the college level and their simultaneously prolific rookie seasons. While Clark has largely outshone Reese up to this point, winning the league\u2019s Rookie of the Year award in 2024 and emerging as the WNBA\u2019s top star, it was Reese who had the better performance this week.<\/p>\n
Heading into the first games of the weekend, Clark and Reese each took part in high-profile games as Clark and the Indiana Fever headed out west for a rematch with the Golden State Valkyries, while Reese and the Atlanta Dream looked to bounce back from a loss this week with a showdown against the Portland Fire.<\/p>\n
The results of those games were quite different.<\/p>\n
Clark Struggles Against Golden State<\/p>\n
Last week, Clark was able to lead the Fever to victory over the Valkyries thanks to her hot shooting. However, that was certainly not the case in Thursday night\u2019s rematch as the Fever fell 90-88 as Clark struggled mightily.<\/p>\n
Unlike last week\u2019s game, where Clark\u2019s hot shooting led the team to an eight-point win, Clark struggled in what was the worst game of her season so far.<\/p>\n
Clark finished with just 16 points, the lowest total of the season so far, while making just 25% of her shots from the field. But it wasn\u2019t just poor shooting; Clark also had five turnovers, with two of them coming in the final two minutes of the one-score game.<\/p>\n
