Chris Appleton<\/a> is opening up about his brief marriage to actor Lukas Gage<\/a> a little more than a year after their divorce was finalized. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was definitely the first time that I\u2019d experienced that magnitude of people being so invested in my private life,\u201d Appleton said. \u201cI think people have this perception, from social media probably, [that] I have it together. I work with these amazing people. Life looks glamorous. So from the outside, it probably looks like I\u2019ve got it all together. But the truth is, especially during that time, I was going through a lot of private pain.\u201d <\/p>\n

He went on to note: \u201cYou can love someone and then not be a forever happy ending. I think you learn so much from it.\u201d <\/p>\n

Less than a week after the episode premiered, however, Appleton split<\/a> from Gage, citing \u201cirreconcilable differences.\u201d Their divorce was finalized<\/a> in June 2024. <\/p>\n

Previously, Gage hinted that he couldn\u2019t discuss many specifics of the divorce due to a non-disclosure agreement. Still, he\u2019s described<\/a> his decision to marry after such a brief romance as \u201cone of the most unhinged things I\u2019ve ever done in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a manic episode for six months,\u201d he said while appearing on Bravo\u2019s \u201cWatch What Happens Live<\/a>\u201d last year. \u201cWhat happened to me? I don\u2019t know, literally, what went through my head. But we live and we learn.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his chat with Shetty, Appleton shrugged off the implication he\u2019d agreed to tie the knot with Gage too quickly. <\/p>\n

\u201cLook, moving fast doesn\u2019t always mean you\u2019re reckless,\u201d he said. \u201cI think sometimes it means you\u2019re hopeful. And I think any relationship I\u2019ve ever been into, I\u2019ve gone into with an open heart and I have no regrets about that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we shame people too much for leading with an open heart,\u201d he continued. \u201cAnd I think the sad part about that \u2015 especially when it doesn\u2019t work out \u2015 is you can learn to retract and protect yourself. But I would rather love and fall than to never feel anything at all.\u201d <\/p>\n
