{"id":677350,"date":"2026-06-01T06:06:14","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T06:06:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/677350\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T06:06:14","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T06:06:14","slug":"pair-of-bruins-win-world-championship-gold-medal-with-finland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/677350\/","title":{"rendered":"Pair Of Bruins Win World Championship Gold Medal With Finland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Henry Jokiharju and Joonas Korpisalo from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/boston-bruins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Boston Bruins<\/a> won the gold medal at the 2026 IIHF Men\u2019s World Championships on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The gold medal featured Finland taking on Switzerland, and it was Finland that won 1-0 in overtime, as Konsta Helenius scored at 10:42 of the extra frame, giving Finland the win. It\u2019s the third gold medal in seven years at the event for Finland.<\/p>\n<p>Jokiharju skated in 10 games, recording two goals and six assists for 8 points. He was also selected for the 2026 World Championship All-Star Team. He led all Finnish defensemen in points.<\/p>\n<p>Korpisalo, meanwhile, was Finland\u2019s backup in the gold medal game, but he started two games in the tournament and went 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA and a .947 SV%.<\/p>\n<p>Both Jokiharju and Korpisalo also won an Olympic bronze medal with Finland earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Bruins\u2019 forward Fraser Minten had a chance to win a bronze medal on Sunday with Team Canada, but Norway upset the Canadian by a score of 3-2 in overtime.
