Short for Worldwide Developers Conference, WWDC is always a developer-focused event. Still, it’s where we’re expecting to get an early look at iOS 27, a big Siri overhaul and more AI goodies Apple has planned across its lineup.

While we can never be exactly sure of everything Apple plans to announce, the rumor mill has been offering hints for months. We can also draw some ideas from past WWDC keynotes. If you’re eager for an early peek, here’s a look at everything we expect to hear about at WWDC 2026 in June.

A much more capable Siri, backed by AI

A large portion of what we expect to see at WWDC 2026 concerns Siri. The rumor mill has been swirling for months, pointing to a complete overhaul of how Siri works across Apple devices. It’s also expected to finally deliver on Apple’s AI promises made at WWDC 2024, improving Siri’s capabilities with the backing of Google Gemini AI models, building on an agreement the two companies jointly announced earlier this year.

So what exactly will Siri be able to do? We’ll have to wait until Apple’s full reveal for all of the details, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has reported that Apple is overhauling Siri to act more like a chatbot, akin to ChatGPT, across iOS and macOS. There will reportedly be a new, dedicated Siri app that lets you start with Siri using an iMessage-like interface. You’ll also be able to go back to old conversations and pick up where you left off.

Siri might also be moving to the Dynamic Island, replacing the current screen-edge glow that appears when you prompt Siri on iOS 26. Gurman says that when you prompt Siri, it will pop up to say “Searching” on the Dynamic Island. Once it has an answer, it’ll expand into a translucent window that uses Apple’s Liquid Glass design.

Finally, Gurman says Apple is looking to expand Siri into more places across its OSes with this revamp. Apple is reportedly working on an Ask Siri toggle and a Write with Siri option across iOS and macOS. The Ask Siri toggle is said to appear in Apple’s built-in apps and will help you do things like find an email or get more information about text you’ve highlighted. Write with Siri, meanwhile, will pull up a writing tools menu to help you write and generate text.

It’s likely Apple has much more planned for the overhauled Siri that hasn’t leaked yet, but we won’t get a full view of what the company is cooking up until it takes the stage in June.

An early look at iOS 27, macOS 27, and all of Apple’s other operating system updates

WWDC is a software event first and foremost, which means we can expect to see everything Apple has planned for its major “27” updates across all of its operating systems. The most notable will be iOS 27 and macOS 27, which are expected to be tightly integrated with the overhauled Siri experience. However, there are likely other Apple Intelligence features we may see across both operating systems.

Gurman previously reported that AI-powered revamps of the Calendar and Health apps are expected in iOS 27 and macOS 27, but there isn’t much information to go on right now. The much bigger rumor is that Apple will actually let you choose which AI model you want to power the AI features across iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. As noted above, we already know Apple is working with Google to use Gemini as the backbone for its own foundational models, but it sounds like you’ll potentially be able to choose Anthropic’s Claude or OpenAI’s ChatGPT as well. Notably, ChatGPT already powers the current enhanced Siri experience on iPhones if you opt into it.

Choosing which AI model to use would potentially impact everything from what Siri taps into to generating text and manipulating images. On the latter, Apple is reportedly planning to beef up the Photos app’s editing tools to extend, enhance and reframe photos using generative on-device AI. These tools will rely on generative AI to add to the background of your photos, make them look better or shift perspective to reframe them.

If you haven’t noticed, AI is expected to be a big theme across WWDC 2026. However, it’s likely we’ll see some smaller enhancements to Apple’s operating systems as well. For instance, Apple Wallet may add additional flexibility with the ability to save any QR code to the passbook — no need for a dedicated app as is required now. And Apple won’t just be focused on the iPhone, either. The company has been charging forward in recent years on bolstering iPadOS’s multitasking capabilities, bringing it closer to becoming a more portable laptop replacement. We could see more work done in that area this year.

Otherwise, the ‘27 updates across Apple’s lineup are largely expected to be focused on fixing bugs and improving performance after iOS 26 introduced Apple’s Liquid Glass design language. However, Gurman reported in March that Apple may introduce a slider that allows users to adjust the intensity of Liquid Glass’ effects. That would come after Apple responded to backlash to the design by toning down its transparency effects in later iOS 26 updates.

A potential M5 Mac mini or Studio refresh?

While Apple doesn’t always introduce new hardware at WWDC, it has in the past, so we can’t take it off the table. Some speculation swirling around the internet initially indicated we could be in store for the launch of a new Mac mini or Mac Studio powered by Apple’s newest M5 chips around WWDC. But there’s a problem: The current memory and storage supply constraints across the entire tech industry are making that sort of simple “chip bump” upgrade more challenging than ever.

In Apple’s most recent earnings call, CEO Tim Cook said the current supply constraints may end up impacting the Mac Mini, Mac Studio and MacBook Neo. And indeed, in the days that followed, Apple has shrunk the number of M4 models of the Mac Mini and Mac Studio configurations — last refreshed in 2024 and early 2025, respectively — available for sale. The current slate of M5 chips are only available in the MacBook Pro and Air, iPad Pro and Apple Vision Pro, so we expect to see them expanded to Apple’s other Macs soon. However, the timeline could slip into late this year or early 2027.

How to watch WWDC 2026

As usual, Apple is expected to stream the WWDC 2026 keynote address online. If past is prologue, you can expect to be able to watch it on YouTube, along with Apple’s own website. Apple typically streams its presentations in the Apple TV app on Apple TV streaming boxes as well.

The WWDC 2026 keynote is set to start at 1 p.m. ET (10 a.m. PT) on Monday, June 8.
