President Donald Trump<\/a> fired off an attack on a former Republican official in a Truth Social<\/a> post just after 1 a.m. Eastern time on Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cFailed former Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan<\/a>, of Georgia, is a total loser,\u201d Trump wrote<\/a> of Duncan, who called out the president\u2019s lies about the 2020 election and has remained an outspoken critic ever since. <\/p>\n

\u201cWas never able to get anything done, all he ever did was complain,\u201d Trump wrote. \u201cWe didn\u2019t want him in the Republican Party<\/a> any longer, so I\u2019m told he became a Democrat. Good riddance Geoff. You don\u2019t even have a chance!!!\u201d <\/p>\n

Duncan, who was expelled by the state GOP<\/a> in January, announced this week<\/a> that he had left the Republican Party and become a Democrat. <\/p>\n

In 2020, Duncan voted for Trump.<\/p>\n

But after losing the election, Trump pressured officials in multiple states \u2015 including Georgia \u2015 to overturn the results. Trump frequently attacked Duncan as well as Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp<\/a> and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger<\/a>, both Republicans<\/a>, for refusing to overturn Joe Biden<\/a>\u2019s narrow win in that state.<\/p>\n

Duncan ultimately chose not to seek reelection<\/a>, while Kemp and Raffensperger each overwhelmingly won reelection in 2022 despite Trump\u2019s criticism. <\/p>\n

Duncan has since made regular appearances in the media, speaking out against Trump. In 2023, he said Trump has a \u201cmoral compass more like an ax murderer<\/a> than a president.\u201d<\/p>\n

He\u2019s also said the Republican Party today is not the one he grew up with. <\/p>\n

\u201cDonald Trump completely controls the entire GOP,\u201d Duncan said on CNN last month<\/a>. \u201cThe only example I can give that equates to it is like a rogue cult leader coming into a church and taking it over. He\u2019s brainwashed them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duncan spoke at the Democratic National Convention<\/a> last year as he endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris<\/a>. <\/p>\n
