{"id":678624,"date":"2026-06-01T22:09:10","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T22:09:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/678624\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T22:09:10","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T22:09:10","slug":"josh-acheampong-chelsea-reject-approaches-for-20-year-old-defender","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/678624\/","title":{"rendered":"Josh Acheampong: Chelsea reject approaches for 20-year-old defender"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/chelsea\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea<\/a> have rejected multiple approaches for defender Josh Acheampong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The 20-year-old is a graduate of the academy at Stamford Bridge and as reported elsewhere has been given &#8216;untouchable&#8217; status in terms of his future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It puts him in the same category as players such as forwards Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer, and midfielder Moises Caicedo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">That is despite the fact the England Under-21s international only made 17 Premier League appearances last season, with nine of those as a substitute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">It remains unclear whether Acheampong, whose <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/chelsea\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chelsea<\/a> contract expires in 2029, is looking for a move away from the club.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/arsenal\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arsenal<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/newcastle-united\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Newcastle<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/crystal-palace\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Crystal Palace<\/a> are known to be monitoring the situation while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/football\/teams\/afc-bournemouth\" class=\"ssrcss-18834jl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bournemouth<\/a> also retain an interest in Acheampong from last summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Chelsea have rejected multiple approaches for defender Josh Acheampong.
