Puka Nacua learned a valuable lesson this offseason.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the Los Angeles Rams and former BYU receiver spoke to the media for the first time following his time in a rehab facility<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cSomething that I feel like I\u2019ve learned is, it\u2019s OK to ask for support,\u201d Nacua said, per the Los Angeles Times<\/a>. \u201cAnd then to recognize the platform that I have in being a professional football player, and trying to use that for the betterment of myself and for those around me.\u201d<\/p>\n

In early March, Nacua \u201cvoluntarily entered a holistic care facility to focus on his personal growth,\u201d according to a statement from his agent Levi McCathern to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Nacua said Friday that the support from his \u201cinner circle\u201d helped him decide to get professional help. <\/p>\n

His time in the \u201cholistic care facility\u201d has concluded, but Nacua said he has continued to utilize the lessons and resources he learned during his time there, such a meeting with a team therapist and journaling, according to the Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n

\u201cI like to think of myself as a pretty happy outgoing guy that enjoyed life,\u201d he said. \u201cBut there also were some difficulties of just being in this professional sport and just throughout my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news of Nacua\u2019s rehab broke a week after a Los Angeles woman filed a civil lawsuit alleging that Nacua \u201cforcibly\u201d bit her shoulder and made an \u201cunprovoked antisemitic statement,\u201d according to the court document obtained by ESPN<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Reporters asked Nacua about the allegations in the lawsuit on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith it being an ongoing legal battle, out of respect for the other party involved, don\u2019t really have much to speak on,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

The wide receiver later added it was \u201ca moment for me to learn from, kind of some of the situations I was putting myself in, and then also having just an awareness of how I\u2019m conducting myself in and out of this football field.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nacua said his off-the-field \u201cmistakes\u201d can serve as a teaching moment for his son, who was born in October, \u201cso there\u2019s an opportunity for him to learn before some of those wrong decisions can be made.\u201d<\/p>\n
