Saturday, Tanner Scott<\/a> came in to protect a two-run lead against the Philadelphia Phillies<\/a>, and allowed a three-run homer, which ultimately gave the Phillies the win. On Sunday, Tanner\u2019s wife Maddie Scott shared the messages she got, per Christian Orozco of the New York Post<\/a>:<\/p>\n \u201cWhen did it stop being a game?\u201d Maddie wrote on her Instagram Story in response to a message from a user who said \u201cgun shot your family tonight.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t speak out often. Ever actually,\u201d she said. \u201cI promise you, you don\u2019t know what it\u2019s like unless you\u2019re living it.\u201d<\/p>\n Some of the messages got even more disturbingly graphic, with threats made not only to Tanner and Maddie, but also to their newborn son.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Social media allows fans to connect to each other and to players, but the dark side is the worst of humanity also come out via that medium.
