\n\tEver since Ohio State beat Texas 14-7<\/a> in the 2025 season opener, Texas defensive end Colin Simmons has had the Longhorns\u2019 rematch with the Buckeyes circled on his calendar.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with On3\u2019s Pete Nakos<\/a> this week, Simmons said his primary motivation this season is helping Texas win a national championship, but he also has other goals, including beating Ohio State when the teams meet again on Sept. 12.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSimmons, who told Texas beat reporters<\/a> before last season\u2019s Week 1 matchup with the Buckeyes that he was \u201cglad that they have a quarterback that I\u2019m ready to sack,\u201d was limited to just two tackles in his team\u2019s seven-point loss.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to Ohio State offensive lineman Phillip Daniels, Simmons talked better than he played<\/a> in the top-two showdown.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe week after the Buckeyes\u2019 win, Daniels recalled a moment when Simmons called him \u201ctrash\u201d between snaps. On the next play, Simmons drew a 15-yard penalty for knocking Daniels\u2019 helmet off \u2014 a flag that not only gave Ohio State a first down on what would have been a third-down incompletion, but also helped set up its first of two touchdowns in the game.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t talk trash, I\u2019m really, I\u2019m an offensive lineman, I\u2019m tired,\u201d Daniels said on Sept. 3, 2025. \u201cBut if you try me, I\u2019m not just gonna stand there and let you say something to me, you know what I\u2019m saying? I\u2019m gonna respond, either on the football side or both.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile Ohio State\u2019s offensive line is still taking shape this offseason, Simmons \u2014 who has 29.5 tackles for loss and 21 sacks in 29 games for the Longhorns \u2014 will likely face some combination of Daniels, Austin Siereveld and\/or Ian Moore when the Buckeyes come to Memorial Stadium in Week 2.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n
