here<\/a> to check out more rainfall totals from the Big Island and rest of the state.<\/p>\nSeveral other locations covered by the advisory recorded amounts between 3.13 inches and 4.29 inches.<\/p>\n
Only 12 of the 40 automated rain gauges in flood advisory locations collected less than 2 inches of rain during that 24-hour period. The lowest amount was at South Point, which collected no rain at all.<\/p>\n
All amounts are provisional and were not quality controlled by the time this story was published. They also were reported by automated rain gauges from around the Big Island.<\/p>\n
Hawai\u2018i Police Department reported Tuesday that Highway 11 and Ka\u02bbililike, or Cane Haul Road, were also closed in Ka\u2018\u016b, between P\u0101hala and N\u0101\u2018\u0101lehu, from mile markers 59 and 61 because of flooding from the heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n
Radar continued to indicate heavy rain \u2014 falling at a continued, persistent half an inch to 1.5 inches an hour \u2014 over windward and southeast portions of the Big Island, with the heaviest over Ka\u2019u, lower Puna and South Hilo.<\/p>\n
Additional heavy showers were expected to move through later in the afternoon, with additional flooding on roads as well as in poor drainage areas and streams.<\/p>\n
Some locations expected to have experienced some flooding Tuesday included Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Kapa\u02bbau, Honoka\u2018a, Volcano, Glenwood, Mountain View, Hawaiian Acres, Kea\u2018au, P\u0101pa\u02bbikou, Hawai\u2018i Volcanoes National Park, Pepe\u2018ekeo, Honom\u016b, Orchidland Estates, Hakalau, N\u012bnole, Laup\u0101hoehoe, Wood Valley and P\u0101hoa.<\/p>\n
