During the tour, there was a demonstration of the facility\u2019s new, high-speed package sorting machine, which the USPS says can process 4,300 pieces of mail per hour. There are also new additions to the USPS\u2019s fleet of vehicles. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThe impact that this will have is it will be an improved service and faster delivery. We will be able to get our carriers out to the community on an earlier timeframe as opposed to taking a longer time to get our carriers out and ready,\u201d said Texarkana postmaster, Tyson Garza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Local postal leaders spoke about how the upgrades, which are part of a nearly $23 billion investment in infrastructure to transform the USPS over the next five years, will improve service performance, enhance working conditions, and support faster, more reliable last-mile delivery operations in the Texarkana area. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">USPS has recently reported major improvements in service performance during the last holiday season, delivering 16 billion pieces of mail and packages in an average of two and a half days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cFor customers and businesses here in Texarkana, this new sorting and delivery center will dramatically improve service for our community, strengthen delivery performance and help our team work more safely and efficiently,\u201d said Garza. \u201cInvestments like these represent more than a physical upgrade; they reflect a commitment to our employees, our customers, and the future of the Postal Service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The new sorting and delivery center serves nearly 32,000 customers across eight zip codes, including 77 centralized routes, the postmaster says. Across all of Texas, the Postal Service employs more than 46,000 people and serves around 26.5 million addresses. <\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link | text-reset d-block h-100 w-100\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ksla.com\/page\/ksla-streaming\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"figure-img img-fluid mx-auto d-block\" alt=\"KSLA\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/CJULBREU3RAOTLOR7JDJACWJXM.jpg\" width=\"980\" height=\"551\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAs far as I know, I don\u2019t see the Texarkana SDC going anywhere.
