A fan celebrated what will likely be his final NBA game with a selfie alongside Victor Wembanyama<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals saw play interrupted in the fourth quarter when a fan ran onto the court and appeared to try taking a selfie with the San Antonio Spurs<\/a> superstar. He was quickly apprehended by a pair of security workers and rushed off the court.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama appeared amused by the interruption, unlike New York Knicks<\/a> big man Mitchell Robinson<\/a>. Other camera angles<\/a> show the fan being roughly dragged further into the tunnel by security personnel and officers.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never been in that situation,” Spurs center Victor Wembanyama said. “I didn’t know how to act. It really surprised me, almost as much as that time where a bat crossed the court<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

The fan can likely expect a lifetime ban from the NBA, which will take an especially dim view of anyone who interrupts a fourth quarter of its marquee event. There could be legal repercussions as well, as it is a crime in Texas to enter a restricted area at a stadium<\/a>. Criminal trespass and disorderly conduct are both possible misdemeanor charges, with the former punishable by up to 180 days in jail.<\/p>\n

“I don’t think it was an event at all,” Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said. “I thought security got him out of there. I think everybody moved on to the next play.”<\/p>\n

This is the second time this year a fan has interrupted a fourth quarter of a major championship, as someone else ran onto the field at Super Bowl LX. His journey ended much more violently<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Knicks went on to win 105-95, behind 30 points on 31 shots from Jalen Brunson<\/a>.
